3D TV No More

One of the first things you learn in Business; is to design your Products based on your customer’s needs. Once a while Companies decide to ignore that approach, and  expectedly they mostly fail ( rarely they do succeed Like Apple did with the iPads).

One of the revolutionary Products that did not follow the rule were introduced by TV Manufactures was the 3D TV with there fancy glasses couple if years back and they struggled convincing consumers that this is what you need until they reach the inevitable truth: “ It’s not gonna work “

So most Manufactures stopped the 3D TVs production and cut there looses within the last two years, and the only two company stayed in the 3D TVs business was Sony and LG, but not for long as per CNETs Report.

Avatar was the first movie that boosted the 3D trends in TV’s manufacture after the big success the movie created in 3Ds at movie theaters in 2010. too much resource were put in the industry to be fully faded with in the seven years.

One products that also invading the market that remind us with ed TVs are the VR headset by the same approach “ everyone is doing it so it must be wanted”.

Why Did 3D TV Failed?

  • People usually do not like to wear glasses, especially big uncomfortable ones, also more effort by some models that need charging or batteries.
  • 3D movies and series were limited and costly, so not enough content for people to consume.
  • 3D experience did not reach the satisfying point for the users.
  • It required too much effort of getting enough glasses to everyone, getting the content of blue ray 3D version of the movie, having good player, and so on..

The new trends in the TV industry is 4K / HDR /  OLED / QLED/  smart specs / voice command: what will stay and what will fail? only time will tell.
