Ableton’s free addition to Live 10: Creative Extensions

Ableton, the company that creates hardware and software intended for creation and production of music, has collaborated with Amazing Noises to create an addition to Ableton’s Live 10 Suite. The update “Creative Extensions” helps users through 8 different sound tools to experiment more with their music.

The Creative Extensions are already included in Ableton’s Live 10 Suite. All owners of Live 10 Suite or Live 10 Standard, as well as those who have Max for Live, can get them for free through the software itself or download them from Ableton website by logging into your account.

If you have the software needed, here is how you can access the Creative Extensions. Launch the Live 10, and check the sidebar. By clicking “Packs”, you will be able to find the Creative Extension under “Available Packs”, and simply download it.

The 8 sound tools in Creative Extensions increase the possibilities of Live 10 by adding one MIDI effect, 2 virtual analog instruments and 6 different audio effects that you can use to expand the boundaries of current Live 10. Here is what you get:

  1. Melodic step: This is the MIDI effect included, and it is a fast MIDI sequencer that you can use to experiment, randomize and create melodies using just a few mouse clicks.
  2. Pitch Hack: The first out of 6 audio effects, it helps create different pitch-related sound effects. You can use it in real time, or reverse the audio, randomize the interval etc.
  3. Gated Delay: The audio effect intended to create the effects of sequenced delay. You can adjust the rate and the length of the steps, as well as whether you want the dry signal to be audible, step randomization and more.
  4. Color Limiter: Next audio effect, adds to the effect of hardware limiters. You can control the loudness, threshold, release, lookahead and saturation and color parameters of your sounds.
  5. Re-Enveloper: The fourth audio effect on the list that is a multiband envelope processor. After the input signal is divided, you can compress or expand its envelope.
  6. Spectral Blur: Last audio effect provided helps creates “reverb-like” sounds and textures. It is intended for blurring a frequency range of a signal into a dense cloud of sound. You can also use its Halo control, Residual control as well as Freeze button to modify the signal.
  7. Bass: The first out of two instruments in Creative Extensions, it provides a great variety of bass sounds that go from the classically deep and clean sounds to distorted rumbling tones.
  8. Poli: Another instrument, it is used for playing classic polyphonic chords and phrases. You can use de-tunable oscillators, modulation second and even built-in chorus.
