LOVEFiLM was one of the first services to offer DVD or Blue-Ray movie rental and mailing to its subscribers.

The service has reached 2 million subscribers with 70,000 films and 4 million discs a month whether it is a DVD or a blue-ray or a game in five countries, the most important of which is England and Germany to become the first company to rent CDs in Europe and the UK.

Amazon adds a number of paid subscription channels to its video platform

Lately streaming and broadcasting services has become the forefront of internet without the need to buy CDs, which made the company go to this decision to declare the loss in the war of viewing and the inability to continue to compete with companies such as Netflix and others, even one of which is owned by Amazon The same is Prime Video service.

LOVEFiLM BY POST statement.

The company published a statement announcing the suspension of its service in addition to mentioning the reasons where it said:

We have very much enjoyed delivering the LOVEFiLM By Post service to our customers,”said an Amazon spokesperson.

However, over the last few years we have seen a decreasing demand for DVD and Blu-ray rental as customers increasingly moving to streaming.

Due to this, we will be closing the LOVEFiLM By Post business on 31st October 2017. We are committed to finding alternative roles for all LOVEFiLM employees within Amazon.

The company explained that it is still possible to rent movies and TV shows on DVD and Blu-ray discs as usual, and there is no need to take any action. No money will be withdrawn from you to renew your LOVEFiLM subscription after the end of September. You will be able to continue to enjoy the service until it is stopped on October 31st, which means that the company offers its subscribers a free month.

  1. That still leaves Cinema Paradiso for DVD and Blu-ray rental, with actually better service and the range of titles. So, there’s still hope for physical media
