Here’s what you need to know about Amazon’s newest Echo lineup

When tech giant Amazon revealed its new Echo Show device earlier this year, many thought it’d be the last we hear of the Echo brand for now. However, a surprise press release at the end of last week brought us not one or two, but FIVE new Echo devices. Here’s what you need to know.

Echo Spot

First thing we have to talk about is the new Echo Spot. This cute-looking clock-shaped Echo variant combines alarming functions, video and audio calls, touch screen, and the ability to connect to external speakers to play music through a cable or Bluetooth connection. The device comes with a 2.5 inch touch screen in the middle of its circular frame with a little camera on top for video calls and nursery purposes.

The new Echo Spot will be available starting December 19 with a price of $130. You can view the first look of the device below:

Echo Plus

Next we have the traditional Echo in an improved state, now called Echo Plus. This renovation of the 2014 device provides what the original Echo does and in its same size, but adds few features to the mix like smart home control as well as second gen of the far-field voice recognition tech and an enhanced audio. The Echo Plus also uses Zigbee to increase its wireless range without consuming much power, and it’s compatible with over 100 smart home devices to control with voice.

Echo Plus comes October 31 with a price of $150 and has three color variants: White, Black and Silver.

Second gen Echo

The new and improved edition of the original Echo, Second generation Echo combines everything we loved about the original in almost half the size and the cheapest it can get. The new device has more material options to choose from as it comes with a clothed exterior, wood, and the original plastic to suit all of your living room looks for only $100. Amazon is providing the chance to buy three Second Gen Echos in a bundle for a great price of $250. This gives us the perfect Alexa multi-room essential experience without breaking the bank. The product will be available October 31.

Echo Connect

Next up we have the Echo Connect, which might be the most useful yet for emergencies. This $35 device will enable you to have Alexa-controlled landline phone calls, making 911 calls a lot more efficient for when you can’t reach your traditional phone through voice recognition.

Echo Buttons

Last but not least, Amazon revealed what it called Echo Buttons. These hockey puck-shaped buttons are a way to play games with family through any Alexa-enabled device. Think of doing your own little quiz contest like they do them on TV.

In other news, Amazon revealed its Fire TV as it was expected. The new 4k HDR adapter supports up to 2160p resolutions and 60 frames per seconds, and it has Dolby Atoms as well as Alexa voice commands for only $70 making it a serious competition to the new Apple TV 4K which sets at $180. Fire TV pre-orders are now live, with the device itself being available October 25.
