What to expect from Apple’s October Event?

Apple as one of the biggest tech giants is reserving a day in October for their New York City October event. The last big event took place in September and Apple wowed its fans with new iPhones, including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, as well as the newest Apple Watch Series 4. Still, there are quite a few more products awaited to be presented in a weeks time, so here is all that you can expect from Apple’s October event.

iMac

There are a few updates expected to come in a week to iMac, as well as iMac Pro. As the design was pretty much the same in the past 6 years, there is a chance we might be looking at a redesign of the iMac at the October event, perhaps as a result of components redesign as well including RAM, processor, and storage. Some other improvements could involve improving the display performance, perhaps aiming for the True Tone display support that will change the display color temperature based on the surrounding light or even touchscreen display. There is also the possibility of a Face ID feature as well.

MacBook

One of the biggest expectations for Apple’s October event is the introduction of a 13 inch MacBook, besides the already existing 12 inches one. Apple’s new laptop is expected to be cheaper than the standard one but looks more alike MacBook Air with a few design tweaks such as thinner bezel and bigger screen, as well as a keyboard redesign making it quieter and even expanding the Touch Bar. Moreover, there is a chance of Apple discontinuing its two non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro models.

Mac Mini

Even though it was left on the side for the past 4 years, it seems like it might be time for Mac Mini to be updated again, together with the rest of the Mac series. As there were no updates in a while, there is not a lot to go on with speculations, but it might get a bit smaller or thinner and, due to its popularity among developers, get a better processor and other components. Apple’s event could be the moment that will determine whether the company will upgrade its smallest desktop Mac, or discontinue it.

iPad Pro

Besides the Mac updates, Apple’s event is also bringing a redesign to its signature iPad Pro. At the moment, there is a choice between two sizes of iPad Pro, the 10.5 inch or 12.9 inches. What seems to be Apple’s move is completely getting rid of the smaller version and instead of adding a full-screen 11 inch iPad Pro. The 12.9 inch iPad Pro would get a redesign as the bezels are supposed to be smaller which will decrease the size of the housing of the device. Both of the new iPads Pro could get new features such as Face ID instead of Touch ID, no notch design with an all screen and difference in Smart Connector. There is also a chance of USB type C port instead of the regular Apple’s Lightning port.

Apple Pencil

There have been rumors that Apple is going to introduce Apple Pencil 2, a new version of their already very popular stylus. Few potential improvements of the Apple Pencil 2 could include either a magnetic or clip attachment, faster Bluetooth connectivity, force sensors, interchangeable tips, and even ability to function on other non-touch sensitive surfaces such as metal or wood. The new Apple Pencil 2 might be paired with the new iPad Pro, as it is expected for the iPad to come with a new Bluetooth device that is still not released.

AirPower

It’s been over a year ago when Apple announced that it will introduce its own wireless charging pad intended for iPhones, AirPods and the Apple Watch. Ever since then, Apple went quiet on the matter of AirPower, the wireless charging mat. This could be due to technical difficulties that were not anticipated and that prolonged the whole development process, but we are still hoping to see the new device revealed at the October event.

AirPods

AirPods got a lot of attention lately as there were many leaks about potential features of the new generation of Apple’s signature earbuds, including wireless charging, noise canceling feature, as well as IPX rating and maybe even some biometric sensors. The first generation of AirPods was released over a year ago, and it would be fair to expect the next one to come soon, as soon as next week, but we are yet to see will this actually happen or will the release of AirPods 2 be postponed for next year.

Date of Apple’s October Event

Apple’s event will take place on 30th October. What was scheduled for the day after Apple’s October event was OnePlus reveal of their newest smartphone, OnePlus 6T which was rumored about ever since the OnePlus 6 came out, with a lot of teasers and leaks from different sides. Stealing the spotlight, Apple’s event led OnePlus to reschedule their conference 2 days earlier than announced, for 29th October.
