Apple’s Siri is coming to our homes with rumors about a new product to rival Echo

Some new rumors about Apple’s upcoming product started to emerge, as the company is reportedly preparing a rival for both Amazon Echo and Google Home powered by the AI assistant Siri.

Sources claim that the Echo rival is getting an announcement at Apple’s developers conference WWDC next month. The rumor comes from Ming-Chi Kui, who’s one of the well-known analysts with excellent predictions regarding Apple devices.

Kui added that the upcoming speaker will support AirPlay wireless technology and comes with “excellent acoustic performance“. However, and as the trend goes for Apple, it’s going to be a bit expensive with price difference being 150 pounds to the Echo. The Siri-powered speaker is releasing in the second half of the year, according to Ming.

He wasn’t the only one to predict an announcement next month. Another figure, Sonny Dickson, also spoke about the probability of Apple’s speaker announcement coming to WWDC. Dickson’s info also adds other details like the concave design of the device similar to Mac Pro desktop computers, and a speaker mesh close to what’s present on UE Boom. The device works using an iteration of iOS.

CNET mentions that Apple’s upcoming product will also have a built-in camera to recognize facial expressions, which helps it tie in with the whole smart home concept controlling locks, lights and so on. All of those shining whistles won’t mean the end of war for Amazon of course, as work on the second generation Echo is already underway and it’s releasing as soon as next month, with built-in screen and ability to make phone calls according to sources.
