IrcamLab introduces The Snail.. iPhone app for Instrument Tuning and Audio Analysis
NAMM 2017 show presented a great innovation and devices related to music field, and one of them was introduced by IrcamLab, the startup launched “The Snail” a new app for iPhone aimed to help you tunining audio instrument with great precision.
The Snail is Designed to process audio Analysis with deep scan, and review them in snail grid to visualize the root note & overtone structures of any sound using iphone integrated microphone.
Using two visualization modes, you can check an complete music overview for audio spectrum in snail grid mode, the other option is the diamond view, developed especially to focus on the root note to help you tuning the music Instrument with best quality.
Behind technology
The app works as a high-precision frequency-domain analyzer that delivers an easy to understand sounds elements and data based on the scales and notes aligned in spectrally active zones.
Ircam institute for acoustic and music research located in paris is behind developing the app technology, the invention is patented by “Thomas Hélie” A Researcher at “STMS” -Sciences and Technologies for Music and Sound Laboratory.
The app was developed by “SKYLIFE” a new company located in berlin, they have ported the Ircam technology into ios app “The Snail”, and it’s also work with pc and mac and distributed by Plugivery for Audio Software & Plug-Ins Distribution.
