Bose Noise-Masking Sleep buds Overview
Bose, the American company that sells audio equipment, is coming out with another earbuds model, this time for sleeping. The Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds were first introduced to the public as a prototype on Indiegogo last year, where around 3000 people were able to pick them up and offer feedback which Bose further used to develop the final product that you can read about below.
Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds are a specific type of earbuds that are intended to be used during sleep and help mask the surrounding sound so that the quality of your sleep is better. They are not cancelling the noise, but rather play soothing sounds that mask the noise of loud neighbours, cars, snoring etc. In order to complement the comfortable design, they do not stream music from your smartphone but only play locally stored audio files, as streaming requires a bigger battery that would make them more robust and uncomfortable.
Bose offers ten different sounds that are preloaded on the earbuds. Depending on what you need, there are some that are more fitting for masking the noise around you, and some that are more fitting when you wish to calm down and sleep. “Rustle” which is a sound of wind moving leaves around, “Altitude” which is a sound of airplane ambient noise and “Downstream” which is a gentle sound of water, are just some of the examples of what you can choose to listen from.
Talking about battery, the Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds have a silver-zinc micro battery that lasts up to 16 hours with one charge. Additionally, the earbuds come in a magnetised case that holds one additional full charge, as well as storage for when you are not using them. Even though the case itself is not water resistant, the sleepbuds are both water and sweat resistant.
The Sleepbuds are compatible with any device that uses Bluetooth Low Energy, meaning that if you have iOS 10 or later or Android 5.0 or later, you will most likely be able to use the earbuds. They are controlled through an app, so installing Boso Sleep app on your smartphone allows you to choose the sound, set volume and even time how long you wish them to work during the night. You can also set up an alarm that will only be heard through the sleepbuds. Boso promises a bigger variety of sounds with future software updates as well as Phone-free Mode that will allow users to use the sleepbuds even when disconnected from their smartphones.
Bose will officially launch the new Noise-Masking Sleepbuds in a press event that will take place in New York City on 20th June 2018, but, until then, they are available for pre-order on Bose website for $249.95. It is worth noting that they will not be shipped before 21st of June so if you do decide to order them now, it might take some time until they get to you.
