Brainwavz Krudul Duo Pros&Cons

Pros

  • Sturdy
  • Reasonably priced
  • Attractive design

Cons

  • Somewhat limited usage
  • There are cheaper alternatives

Packaging

The Krudul Duo comes in fairly basic packaging. Brainwavs clearly didn’t do anything premium here, and nor should they. For such a relatively simple product, costs should be kept to a minimum. For the most part, the packaging is semi-transparent white, with a fully transparent front window through which both models can be seen. The rear of the packaging contains a few images to illustrate the product’s versatility.

What’s in the box?

  • 1x Krudul Monitor
  • 1x Krudul Vertical

Design

Made from cast aluminium, the Krudul feels like a solid, quality made item. The Vertical model is to be mounted against a wall, bookcase, etc. Or really, any flat vertical surface will suffice. The integrated 3M VHB double sided mounting tape ensures that the item will remain in place, and can take quite a bit of weight.
The Monitor model, as the name suggests, was designed with the intention for it to be mounted against the back of a computer monitor. However, it hasn’t been designed exclusively for monitors, as the Monitor model can also be mounted on any flat vertical surface. You could also mount it to the lid of a notebook. However, care should be taken to ensure that there would be enough clearance between the Krudul and the surface upon which the notebook is resting when the lid is closed. As such, this really wouldn’t be appropriate for ultra-thin notebooks or Macbooks, but rather only for hefty gaming systems.

The Krudul Duo is only available in black, which would limit your interior decorator skills.

Functionality

Brainwavz has made a few universal headphone accessories, such as their Hengja, Hooka, Truss, and Zirconia Headphone Stand, but the Krudul is their first attempt at creating a nifty storage solution for IEMs/earbuds. Actually, there are quite a number of headphone storage solutions out there, including the WooAudio HPS-R, but not a whole lot exists for IEMs/earbuds.
The Krudul’s purpose is simple: it allows you to hang your IEMs / earbuds within easy reach. Now, you could go hunting around your home or office for a variety of creative locations to stick this sturdy solution.

On a nightstand or dresser perhaps? A bookcase or other shelf might work too. Really, the only limit is your imagination (and that the surface should be flat). But in an office or at the bedside seems the most appropriate. After all, where are you most likely to NEED your favourite IEMs/earbuds within easy reach?

The Krudul Monitor is especially useful, as you could essentially leave your IEMs/earbuds plugged into you system all the time, and simply use the Krudul Monitor to just keep the IEMs/earbuds out of the way but within easy reach.

Value

At an asking price of $15, the Krudul Duo certainly won’t break the bank. There are cheaper, more D.I.Y. type of ways to achieve the same thing, but the Krudul system is rather unobtrusive and pleasing to the eye.
The Krudul’s use obviously isn’t limited to only IEMs/earbuds either. You could re-purpose the Krudul to a variety of other uses such as hanging lanyards, etc.

Rating

The TECH MERIT rating system is designed to take as many aspects of the product into account as possible. The final rating grants bonus points for any extra features and specs that aren’t quite as common, and is a great way to judge the product as a complete package.
