If you own a personal voice assistant, then you probably got used to its voice, informing you about what you asked for, or just confirming the order that you gave. If you are not bored yet, trust me you will get bored at some point. For example, hearing Amazon Alexa confirming that it will turn off the lights, or that it will play this song for you would be so annoying. Will not anymore, Amazon was thinking about this problem, and we can say that they found a solution.

While all tech companies are trying to improve the user’s experience with AI, and personal assistants. Amazon added a new option for its Amazon Echo personal assistant, instead of verbal responses and confirmations, with the new “Brief Mood”, Alexa now make a beep sound to inform you about the successful command.

The new feature was first reported by Reddit users, later on AFTVnews reported the new “Brief Mood” according to Reddit users. In their report the say that some Reddit got the new feature on their Alexa apps early this week, in what appeared to be a limited test. Later on the “Brief Mood” was available for all users.

With no comments from Amazon, we can’t know the new feature will only replace some voices and verbal confirmations with a small beep sound, or the feature will be expanded later. For example, it would be useful for Alexa to give the user the option to choose a “Do Not Disturb” time where Alexa would turn on the Brief Mood automatically.

We can all agree that this is a step in the right direction from Amazon, in their way to improve the user experience, and to make Alexa more efficient, there is a lot to do and improve here. While we are waiting for an announcement from Amazon, we will keep an eye on Alexa and the way she is interacting with the users.
