Bryston reveals its new flagship loudspeakers Active system

Are you in the market for some new loudspeakers in 2018? Then you may want to take a look at Bryston’s latest offering under the name of Active, the company’s newest flagship yet.

The new series of products consists of three different models which are Model T Active, Middle T Active and Mini T Active. Aside from the obvious visual differences there’s few technical ones under the hood giving each piece its unique position.

Starting off with Model T Active, this 130cm tall loudspeaker has three 20cm woofers inside, two midrange 13cm drivers and a pair of 2.5cm tweeters. Moving on to the 100cm-shorter Middle T Active, the design philosophy is similar but with the difference being one midrange driver instead of two, with dimensions and other parts being the same as Model T Active. Mini T, however, is the smallest of the bunch and it consists of one woofer, one driver and one tweeter, which is reasonable enough for this kind of stand loudspeaker.

All of the previously mentioned speakers are connected to a DSP-enabled Bryston BAX-1 crossover and Cubed Series amplifiers. In contrast with passive loudspeakers, the Active crossover takes its signal preamplified giving you greater precision over frequency ranges filtering. In this case, the amplifiers actually come separate from the main unit, which fits with the company’s vision of full size, zero compromises amplifying performance.

Speaking of amplifiers, Bryston introduces two new models to accompany the Active system: 21B³ three-channels amp and six-channel 24B³. You can use the 24B³ to power up your Middle T or Mini T systems, but you’ll need a pair of 21B³ to drive a couple of Model T Active loudspeakers.

Model T Active system comes at around $33,700 when it releases sometime early 2018, while Middle T and Mini T come for $20,230 and $17,690 respectively later on towards the middle of the year. Color options include Black Ash, Natural Cherry and Boston Cherry.
