Facebook Smart Speaker Coming Soon With Large Screen And Unknown Features

The smart speakers market should be ready for the new comer. Facebook smart speaker is coming soon to challenge the big two: Amazon and Google, with strong promises to compete with the marvelous Apple smart speaker, HomePod.

Smart Speakers In 2018 … Intelligence With Superior Sound

According to Digitimes report, Building 8 division lab is working on developing the first Facebook smart speaker that maybe released by July 2018 and will focus on those who will prefer luxury rather than the functionality provided by other small speakers such as Google’s Home Mini and Amazon’s Echo dot.

According to the report, the Facebook smart speaker’s codename would be Aloha or Fiona, and will be supported with 15-inch screen provided by LG Display. The report says that the smart speaker will focus on video calls/chats and other social networking functions, beside that it will support voice commands too.

Facebook smart speaker was first reported last August by Bloomberg report. The report said that Facebook is planning to release a smart speaker based on a digital smart assistant such as Siri and Alexa. But the rumored Facebook’s Portal, which is announced last month during the CES 2018 show affirm that the upgraded Aloha or Fiona will be much more than an ordinary smart speaker.

The first thing that confirms that Facebook smart speaker will have more advantages than competitors is its expected price. The coming speaker reported to be much more expensive than other products that can do the same tasks, such as Echo show from Amazon, and of course, the large display is not a strong reason to pay more cash.

But given the cons of Amazon’s Echo show, such as the poor audio quality and video call limits, it seems that Facebook will focus on these two points specifically. That is exactly what Digitimes report says when mentioning the reason behind postponing the speaker release date.

Another strongest evidence is our prior knowledge of Facebook and its desire to connect users with its products and services, and that definitely will not change with its coming smart speaker.
