Fiio Announces RC-MMCX1s Replacement MMCX Cable
Fiio has expanded its product lineup quite extensively over the recent few months with quite a diverse number of products. Now, Fiio announced a new replacement cable for MMCX-equipped IEMs.
RC-MMCX1s
The RC-MMCX1s is a shortened cable that has MMCX connectors. At only 60cm in length, it may very well solve a cable clutter problem manifested by one of their more recent products. Fiio announced the BTR1, a Bluetooth device which basically turns your regular ol’ headphones into a Bluetooth wireless set. You can read more about the BTR1 here.
So, the purpose of the RC-MMCX1s is to replace the stock MMCX cable of your chosen IEMs (assuming that they have a detachable MMCX cable), and in doing so shortens the cable length between the IEMs and whatever device it’s plugged into. Of course this means that the RC-MMCX1s is compatible with pretty much all of Fiio’s IEMs, as well as a wide variety of IEMs made by other manufacturers.
This is also especially useful if you perhaps use some kind of armband pouch to store your phone/DAP during exercise activities. The shorter cable length between the headphones and device will lessen the likelihood of it getting snagged and/or damaged.
The RC-MMCX1s will also be useful for using with Fiio’s i1 amplifier for iOS. Usually a set of IEMs would have a total cable length of around 120cm or so. The i1 has a total length of 80cm, so if using the i1 and the standard IEM cable, that would yield a total cable length of around 2 meters! As such, the RC-MMCX1s would prove to be very useful, as in that scenario you’d end up with a much more manageable total cable length of around 140cm instead.
