Samsung announces the Galaxy A9 with 4 cameras on the back

As Samsung prepares to take on the Huawei P20 Pro with its triple camera set-up, it released the new Galaxy A9 (2018). The device features 4 rear cameras. The race for better picture quality continues and Samsung is not holding back. According to Samsung, the new Galaxy A9 is “optimized for Instagram.”

The device sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display. On the inside it is powered with a Snapdragon 660 -typical for a midrange device- 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage that is expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card, and a relatively large battery at 3,800mAh.

Moving on to the main attraction, the four cameras. The main camera is a 24MP f/1.7 camera, the second is a super wide angle 120degree 8MP f/2.4 camera, the third is a telephoto for portrait mode with 2x optical zoom and a 10MP f/2.4 sensor and last is a 5MP f/2.2 camera to capture the depth of field giving us that grainy background effect.

The Galaxy A9 is aimed to take on midrange phones such as the Huawei’s Honor line up. There is not a release date yet but according to Samsung, the phone should be available in mid-November. It will sell unlocked at $720, which is more expensive than competitors in the same price range such as the Honor 10 and the Oneplus 6, but if you’re about the Samsung experience it is more affordable than Samsung’s flagships the S9 and Note 9.
