Virgin Mobile UAE are offering consumers up to 50% off on various yearly mobile service plans. This moves comes after Etisalat stated that they will begin offering a whole host of add-on packages to various annual service plans.
What these new payment plans are giving prospective Virgin Mobile UAE users is the option for either 6 or 12-month contract service plans with the requirement as a one-time upfront payment for the entire contract package.

Some packages include both calling minutes and a data package. If you subscribe to the 3GB + 50 minutes package for just a single month, that will set you back AED119 for that month, whereas if you purchase the same plan, but on an annual basis, the upfront payment of AED714 equates to an equivalent monthly payment of just AED59.50. The same holds true for the 10GB + 50 minutes plan which usually costs AED250 per months, but will now work out to AED125 per month for the AED1500 upfront payment. If those options seem just a bit too on the pricey side for you, then there is a much more budget-friendly plan of AED499 available which will get you 1GB (plus an additional 1GB of data allowance) along with 50 minutes of local calling time (or 50 local SMSes). That works out to less than AED42 per month over the 12-month period.

The disadvantage of this new scheme is that you will be stuck with the terms of the deal for the entire length of the service plan. One of the major attraction points for prospective Virgin Mobile users was the added flexibility of changing things around each month with the regular service plans.
