Google Assistant is becoming bilingual, starting now

In a continuous race to deliver the best, all tech giants are working constantly to improve their smart assistants, from Google to Amazon, through Apple, and many others. But it seems that Google has made it way beyond other competitors, first when they announced that Google Assistant will support other languages besides English, a feature that many other assistants have already.

But what’s new is that now, Google Assistant has become bilingual, that means that you can speak to your Google Assistant in two different languages interchangeably. Among a list of six different languages that Google Assistant support, you can choose two languages that you will use with the Assistant at the same time.

The six supported languages by Google Assistant are English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. Google is planning to expand the support to many more languages in the future according to what they announced back in the I/O conference in May.

With this step, Google Assistant will be the first smart assistant to have bilingual support ever. Neither Siri nor Amazon Alexa has the support for more than one language at the same time, which makes it a really big step for Google Assistant.

Google said that the feature will arrive for all users on both phones and Google Home devices, or any other Google Assistant-powered smart speaker on Thursday. Don’t freak out if you don’t have it yet, of course, it will need some time to arrive to everyone, or maybe you didn’t try to turn it on, you can find instruction on how to turn this new feature on Google Blog.

Finally, unlike other Google Assistant high-profile features, the new feature will be available for all Google users all over the world, so it’s not regionally locked to the US.
