Google Assistant is coming to Sonos, alongside with Alexa

Two days ago, Sonos went public with an IPO of $16 per share, which is big news for the company specialized in speakers and audio products. Sonos is famous for their Alexa enabled speaker Sonos One, and later their Alexa enabled soundbar Sonos Beam, since the launch of Sonos One speaker, there was a lot of talking whether Sonos will add Google Assistant to its speakers as well, or is it just Amazon Alexa, and now finally we have a confirmed answer from Sonos CEO Patrick Spence.

Going public means more money for Sonos, so they can put more money to develop their products in order to keep up with all the competitors in the market. But Sonos already knows that their biggest competitors are their allies at the same time, companies like Apple, Amazon, and Google, but still Sonos can work on the sound quality part, using the smart assistants of other brands, therefore it’s mutual benefit for both sides.

Our question was answered in a phone call with The Verge, where Sonos CEO Patrick Spence said that the integration with Google Assistant was due “later this year” he continued, “We’re working as hard as we can and so is Google to get it ready for that time,”.

Spence also confirmed in the same phone call that the price range for Sonos products will remain the same, and it won’t drop down to compete with other companies or other smart speakers.

With both smart assistants coming on Sonos, buying a Sonos speaker will be a really smart decision if you are not loyal to one of the two brands, now you can have both Alexa and Google Assistant at the same time.
