Honor Clear: headphones that measures your heart rate

Huawei, the Chinese company famous for its smartphones by the sub-brand Honor, came out with few new products. Besides introducing a new smartphone, the Honor 9i, they also announced that starting of 7th of June, a new pair of headphones will be added to the market. The Honor Clear headphones are wired headphones which come with a new option: measuring users heart rate.

The highlight of these headphones is the heart rate sensor. The Honor Clear Headphones have an optical heart rate sensor located on the right earbud. What you get with this additional feature is a real-time heart rate effortlessly while you are on the go. And it even has high accuracy: 95%. They way Honor did this was by using a specific heart rate variability (HRV) algorithm that uses data from the optical sensor and the final numbers represent the psychological stress of the user.

Audio of the Honor Clear headphones matches what is expected from Honor, with enhanced hi-res audio playback. As mentioned, they have a microphone, that is Micro-Electrical-Mechanical System (known by MEMS) that is located on the line. Another thing located in-line on these earphones is the music and volume control, right next to the microphone. Going down to the very end of the headphones, the connector is 3.5 mm type that has gold plating with an intention to improve and enhance the audio.

Talking about design, the Honor Clear headphones are indeed wired headphones but they do have a microphone. They have an ergonomic design of the earbuds so that they can fit you comfortably, but with purchase, you also get 3 different sizes of both ear fins and ear tips so that you can really adjust them to your preference. They are currently only available for purchase in white color, even though it is expected that black color shows up a bit later.

The new heart-rate function is available for most Honor, as well as Huawei smartphones. The way you access the data is through Huawei Health app that is simple to download.

They are on sale officially since 7th of June in China, and the price is around $20.
