Hidizs Announces NF-3U Triple-driver IEM
It seems that more and more manufacturers of portable music players are starting to dip their toes into making high quality headphones and/or in ear monitors as well. FiiO is probably the most prominent player in this regard as they’ve released numerous and very well-received IEMs over the last few years. Their upcoming FH5 looks particularly intruiging and it will be interesting to see what competing companies can come up with to go head to head with FiiO’s offerings. One such company might just be Hidizs with their newly announced NF-3U IEM.
The NF-3U is actually created as a result of a collaboration between Hidizs and NF Audio. The NF-3U specifically is based on the Classic NF3 and NF3 Bass IEMs. What we get here is a triple driver configuration for each ear which consists of 3 Knowles balanced armature drivers along with a 3-way crossover design. The housing for the NF-3U might look very much like it could be a custom-fit IEM, but in fact it is a universal-fit design made of medical-grade acrylic (the same used for custom-made IEMs). Rounding the design off and giving it a wonderful touch of class is a gorgeous Red Sandalwood faceplate on each earpiece.
Other specifications include a frequency response range of 10-22kHz, a sensitivity of 105dB, and an impedance of just 25-ohm. Thankfully a detachable cable design has been incorporated here in standard 0.78mm 2-pin fashion, allowing you to easily swap out the standard cable for another of your choice. But the standard cable does seem to be of good quality as it features a design consisting of a combination of 8 Core 6N Single Crystal copper and silver-plated wires.
Pricing and Availability
The NF-3U is available right now directly from Hidizs at a cost of $399. It seems that the MSRP is actually $499, so the $100 discount might very well be a promotional or introductory offer that is only valid for a limited time.
