Hidizs Teases Us With Their Upcoming DH-1000
Hidizs are quite a busy bunch. For a while now they’ve been busy with their upcoming flagship DAP, the AP200. Then, more recently, they launched an updated version of their very versatile AP60, named the AP60 Ver 2.
Now, Hidzs have teased the audiophile world with a a glimpse of a portable DAC/AMP that they’re working on, called the DH-1000.
Taking A Closer Look At The DH-1000
There isn’t exactly a ton of details about the DH-1000 available. Either the device is pretty much still just a concept, or Hidizs is intentionally being very hush hush about it. However, what we do know is what they’ve released on this page.
What’s rather interesting with the design is that the DH-1000 looks very much like a smartphone. The black-coloured front panel seems to be covered with glass, giving it the appearance of having a display panel. Shanling did something similar with their little UP mini portable DAC.
Another interesting thing to note is that we can see from the pictures that Hidizs have implemented dual USB ports, one of which is used to connect the device to their AP200 (which we know is Android-based), and the other is being used to connect it to an iPhone X.
We can also see 2 buttons toward the upper left-side of the device. These are likely to be volume buttons, meaning that the DH-1000’s volume control will be in the digital domain, rather than in the analogue stage.
Audio-wise the DH-1000 is built around dual ESS1018K2M DAC chips, allowing the device to decode files of up to 192kHz and 32-bit depth. Hidizs have also implemented dual ESS9601 chips for the amplification stage, resulting in a dynamic range of 120dB, and being capable of pushing out up to 300mW per channel.
And speaking of the amplifier, Hidizs have stated that the DH-1000 will have balanced circuitry on both the 2.5mm and 3.5mm outputs.
Pricing & Availibility
Seeing as Hidizs are being very hush hush about the DH-1000, no indication of pricing or expected release date seems to have been made public as of writing this article.
