New Honor FlyPods look almost exactly like Apple’s AirPods

Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei, has released their latest pair of wireless earbuds and they look almost exactly like popular Apple’s AirPods. This is the second generation of Huawei’s earbuds, first being Apple’s clone as well, the Huawei FreeBuds. The new generation brings few updated features as well as new name: Honor FlyPods.

The new FlyPods by Honor have a “BoneID Technology”, which is supposed to make unlocking the phone safer as it uses a combination of voice recognition and bone sound pattern as biometric authentication when unlocking the phone by voice. It also allows payments over WeChat and AliPay. Besides paying online, FlyPods can be used for music and media, taking calls and to activate Honor’s YoYo voice assistant.

Talking about the battery, earbuds should last up to three hours with one charge, but, thanks to the charging case, can get up to an additional 17 hours of playback time. The charging case is compatible with wireless charging pod or, in lack of such, it can be charged via USB type C port. The connectivity needed to connect the earbuds to a smartphone is Bluetooth 5.0. These earbuds also come with an IP54 waterproof rating meaning they are protected even during a workout.

Honor FlyPods are currently available for pre-order but will be released on November 6th on Vmall website. FlyPods are priced around $115 and come in white and teal color, while the FlyPods Pro will cost around $143 and besides white, bring red color option.
