Huawei AI Cube is a smart speaker and a router – IFA 2018

Huawei also made an appearance at this years IFA conference in Berlin. It is also making an attempt at creating a smart speaker, but with its own twist to it, it doubles as a router as well. The new Huawei AI Cube is quite a unique addition to the Huawei family that came straight from their collaboration with Amazon. And to everyone’s surprise, due to the name, the device is not a cube shape.

The Huawei AI Cube looks very similar to Google Home with an elongated shape and flat on the top and is expected to be a powerful sound system. Despite its looks, it has Alexa support that will be at your service for any tasks or questions and, if things go as planned, will even be able to call others for you. You will be able to choose between English, German and French operating languages for your Cube.

Even though by any means this smart speaker seems like just one in the line of many that are appearing on the market featuring Alexa or other voice assistants, but what makes it unique is the LTE SIM card slot that transforms it into a 4G hotspot. You can also use it as a WiFi router as it has an Ethernet port. The device also features 4 microphones that allow you to communicate with Alexa from up to 5 meters of distance.

Even though Huawei AI Cube was debuted at IFA at the end of August where you could see the device for the first time, but there is still some information missing, such as the price and when it would be available, even though it is expected to come to Europe during the holiday season later this year.
