iFi Audio reveals Nano iDSD Black Label edition with support for MQA formats
Reputable audio devices makers at iFi Audio have revealed their newest serial DAC creation in the form of Nano iDSD Black Label at IFA 2017, taking the already excellent sound performance and adding an additional MQA support as well as few other changes from the original Nano form factor device.
Black Label edition is a part of the iFi Nano iDSD series of the world’s smallest battery-powered DACs. The device comes with support for PCM/DSD/DXD as well as the newly adapted MQA. Nano iDSD BL has two 3.5mm ports to connect different devices such as HiFi systems, speakers, Aux, and amplifiers. You can also directly connect your headphones thatnks to iDSD Black Label’s internal amp which is said to be ten times better than your average smartphone’s. To achieve maximum compatibility this small device is equipped with iEMatch System which allows to use high sensitivity headsets and reduce background noise for best quality.
Another connection option is through a USB 2.0 OTG port (with iPurifier sound filter) which allows to connect PCs, Smartphones as well as charging the device itself. To the left of that port is the digital filter for PCM/DSD formats where you can choose between “Listen” option optimized for transient minimum phase and “Measure”, favoring frequency response instead.
As for the raw specs iFi Nano iDSD Black Label has a Dynamic Range of >109dB (A), Output Voltage of 2.15V (+/-0.05V) and Output Impedance >240Ohm. The internal headphones amp has Dual Mono 2 X 285mW coupled with a transistor-free circuit for optimum quality and analogue sound controller with Maximum Output of <3.5V on 600Ohm or 20mW/600Ohm.
