Klipsche Launches Heritage AMP

Klipsch is an audio company who’s product portfolio spans rather wide – from both wired and wireless headphones and IEMs, to exceptionally well-crafted headphone amplifiers. Recently, at CanJam @ RMAF 2017, Klipsch showcased their HP-3 headphone, which was the first product in their Heritage line. Now, they’ve come out with the Heritage AMP.

It’s all about that Haritage

No, the Heritage moniker does not refer to a long line of Klipsch’s own products, but rather a tribute to the history of personal audio as a whole. As such, the designs are very much inspired by retro trends, and Klipsch has made use of and incorporated wood finishes in particular.
The internals of the Heritage AMP is encased in an aluminium enclosure, finished off with genuine walnut wood veneers, along with a few touches of gold accents. The entire design is exceptionally tastefully done, perfectly blending the old with the new. It sure will invigorate a sense of nostalgia. It’s pretty…seriously, SERIOUSLY pretty.

Ok, first off, the Heritage AMP is somewhat mislabelled. The fact is, it’s not just an AMP, but rather a DAC/AMP combo.
Spec-wise the Heritage AMP is outfitted with an ES9018K2M DAC chip from ESS Sabre, giving the unit a frequency response range of 9-90kHz and an SNR of 118dB. THD+N figures are impressively low, sitting at 0.009%, and is able to provide up to 810mW of power into a 16-ohm load.
It also features both single ended amplification circuitry for the 1/4-inch output, as well as balanced circuitry for its XLR-4 output, and RCA analogue outputs.
Inputs include USB, Optical, COAX, and RCA analogue.

The Heritage AMP supports sample-rates of 44.1/16-bit all the way to 192/24-bit, as well as DSD at up to 11.2M.

Pricing and Availability

Klipsch have set the MSRP of the Heritage AMP at $499, but online prices will likely come down over time. Currently the unit is available on Amazon.
