LZ Introduces Their All-New A5 IEM
Upgraded Internals
On of the selling points of the A4 was the ability to swap filters in order to tune the frequency response to the user’s preference, and the A5 has been given that feature too. However, whereas the A4 houses a triple-hybrid design which utilises a single dynamic driver and 2 BAs, this time LZ has taken things up a notch or two by incorporating a 5-way hybrid design instead (single dynamic driver and 4 BAs).
The design of the housing has changed entirely as compared to that of the A4, and now looks eerily similar to that of the Fiio F9-series.
Spec-wise the A5 has a frequency response range of 8-36kHz, and impedance of 16-Ohm, and a sensitivity of 105±dB, which should mean that the A5 will be reasonably easy to drive from portable devices.
Taking a look at the above published frequency response, we can see that the A5 seems to have a slightly v-shaped response, with the upper mid-range being more forward than the bass region. The elevated high frequencies also suggest that the A5 has a “brighter than neutral” sound signature.
Pricing & Availability
The first batch of A5’s were recently shipped out to various online retailers, and the average price is around $270, around $75 or so higher than the asking price of the A4.
