McIntosh MXA80 promises audiophile level at compact design size

Who said that professional sound systems have to be as large as your living room? This is the question that McIntosh’s newest product asks as it promises to deliver audiophile-level quality for close to $9,000 in the smallest form possible.

The new product called MXA80 comes in compact design yet includes all of the features that you’d expect in a full-sized system, including a hi-res compatible DAC that allows you to play music from your smartphone, tablet, or PC.

MXA80 has a 50W stereo amp that delivers strongly for a compact system, as well as two desktop speakers with some serious volume to them that makes you forget about size. As for files support this sound system can play anything up to 32-bit/384kHz studio quality, and the DAC supports both DSD and DXD making this system one for the future.

There are a total of four digital input ports with USB as well as two analogue for your hi-fi kit. There’s also an optional phono amp for adding turntable, as well as an optional wireless module.

MXA80 enjoys McIntosh’s premium build quality, and the outer chassis is made of stanless steel giving the device a retro kind of looks. McIntosh MXA80 is going to be up for sale with price close to 7500 pounds.
