Packaging

Something I have genuinely come to respect about the products that I’ve owned and reviewed by MEE Audio is that they never use skimpy packaging. The MEE Audio M7P is no different. Of course, it’s not quite on the same level as that of the M6 Pro, and miles behind that of the Pinnacle P1, but it’s still more than acceptable. It features a magnetically closing front flap which opens like a book cover. Once opened the M7P is presented behind a clear window, and to the left we see a showcase of the M7P’s unique design elements and features.

What’s in the box?

Accessories

MEE Audio only includes a single detachable cable with the M7P headphones, but to be honest at this price-point I don’t expect anything more. The cable is of decent quality, and features a remote control to answer and end calls, along with a volume slider.

The included case is rather simple, but it does it’s intended job. It’s only just big enough to house the M7P…but really, what more do you need?

Design:

In total you get 8 pairs of ear-tips (2 already attached to the M7P), 2 of which are double flange tips. These are my personal favourite as they seem to provide the most isolation, secure fit, and best seal.

Let’s start off with the MEE Audio M7P’s most interesting design
element; the swivelling nozzles. This, in my opinion, is
just genius. What MEE Audio M7P offers is the ability for the
nozzles swivel in a complete 360-degrees, which
allows you to find a very secure and comfortable fit.
With most IEMs you are forced to just live with the
particular design specs of the housing. Sometimes it’s
perfectly fine, but with other models you may
experience a lot of discomfort. The M7P’s design attempts to alleviate the user of that issue by allowing
the housing’s design to conform to your anatomy.
Couple this with the over-ear cable design, and you’re
left with a set of IEMs that stay put during activity and don’t give you a sense of discomfort during longer sessions.

Whilst the housings are made entirely of plastic, it doesn’t feel like a particularly cheap type of plastic either. You can also choose between different colours, such as black, blue, red, and green.

Sound

To be quite frank, I was rather surprised by the M7P’s sound signature. Of course, you’re not going to get the widest sound stage, nor the most detailed or balanced sound….but it doesn’t sound like your typical cheapo sports buds either. You’re presented with a warm signature, along with punchy bass. Vocals are present, but not particularly well defined, and they do tend to get overwhelmed by the bass at times. Let’s be honest, the M7P was designed with critical listening sessions in mind. They’re simply there to let you enjoy your favourite workout music whilst blast your body with repetitive and often boring exercises. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel that any part of MEE Audio M7P’s sound is particularly bad, quite the contrary, just don’t expect a hyper detailed sound presentation. For the intended use, and in particular at this price point, I feel MEE Audio has really hit the mark, and then some. The M7P is quite possible the best value, perhaps even best sounding wired sports IEMs on the market.

Value

The M7P is another astonishingly good product from MEE Audio. At this price-point I cannot recommend it enough. From the good sound to the very well thought out design, the M7P is a total home-run. MEE Audio is quickly becoming my favourite bang-for-buck brand, because time and again they manage to bring out decent-to-high quality products and VERY respectable prices.

Rating

As far as the rating is concerned for headphones/IEMs, I’ve devised a 2-part system, the first of which is a 90-point rating of the product as a whole. This is an attempt to take every aspect of the product into account.
The second is a 65-point rating which focuses solely on the product as a portable HiFi accessory, disregarding all the (essentially) unnecessary bells and whistles such as packaging, accessories, and wireless connectivity, for example.
