KEF LSX speaker finally brings quality for a more affordable price

KEF has been known for the excellent sound quality speakers, especially the last years model KEF LS50 Wireless, but their speakers always came at a high price. The new KEF LSX speaker is wireless and in a more compact design while still hanging on to clarity and balance of sound, all of that for half of the price.

KEF included the company’s Uni-Q driver array in the new LSX speaker for improved stereo imaging and a wider listening area. In addition to this, the Music Integrity Engine is incorporated resulting in a clearer overall sound and less muddy lows.

Even though the LSX is a mini version of last years LS50, KEF has perfected some details of their new speaker, including the inter-speaker connectivity that serves instead of the wires that connect two speakers together. The cabinet of the speaker is made out of colorful plastic instead of MDF, and the sides are covered in woven fabric by Danish company Kvadrat.

When it comes to compatibility, in the next few months LSX speaker will include Apple AirPlay2 and Spotify Connect, besides the aptX Bluetooth option for connection with smartphones and computers. Besides all of this, the speaker still holds on to an optical and 3.5mm auxiliary inputs allowing it to be connected to TVs, additional components and other portable devices.

The LSX wireless speaker is compatible with two KEF apps, Control app which allows a simple set-up of the speakers, adjustable EQ and room setting, and will further on provide any firmware updates. KEF Stream app is used for streaming control.

KEF LSX wireless speaker pair is going to be sold for $1100 from the company’s website as well as Amazon. This compact bookshelf speaker will be available in maroon, blue, black and olive colors, as well as a less glossy white finish.
