MWC 2019: What To Expect From The Show?

A few days ago, Samsung announced its new collection of phones including the Samsung S10, and the new Samsung Fold. the tech giant decided to have a separate event for the announcement away from the biggest event for smartphones in the world. Mobile World Congress is coming with its new version MWC 2019 in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

Every year, MWC leave us with a big jam of news, but for the past two years, the news was mostly about a bigger processor or the new notch in the screen which is not that big of an improvement if we think about it objectively. So what would MWC 2019 bring us? Will it be the same as every year? Or will see something really new and different? This is what we are trying to anticipate in this article. Here are things that we expect from smartphones companies during MWC 2019.

Samsung at MWC 2019

While the tech giant had their event a week before MWC on the 20th of February, that doesn’t mean Samsung is done for this year. There are a lot of products range under Samsung’s umbrella, and we might see more new Samsung phones in Barcelona.

We were expecting the release of the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, and Samsung Galaxy Fit during MWC 2019, but the company released them on their Unpacked event in San Francisco last week.

It is expected from Samsung to announce the new mid-range A series phone, among other affordable phones that the company produce. At the same time, there is a chance we might see a new Samsung tablet.

Sony at MWC 2019

Just like every year, Sony will announce their new flagship at MWC 2019, with another new smartphone maybe. The next flagship from Sony would be the Sony Xperia XZ4, so there is a high chance we will see that in Barcelona.

Some leaks about the new phone showed the phone with a three lens rear camera, this would be a big jump for Sony since their last flagship had only one lens camera. The new flagship could also have a notch with a 6.5-inch display.

During MWC 2019, The Sony press conference is set for February 25 at 8:45 am CET, so we have to wait until then to see if the rumors are right or not.

Huawei at MWC 2019

Huawei doesn’t have a regular habit of releasing their new flagships at MWC, last year they didn’t, but the year before they released the Huawei P10 during MWC. so we might see the new Huawei P30 on MWC 2019.

We don’t know a lot about the new smartphone yet, but there are some rumors that it will have three or maybe four rear cameras, and that one of those cameras will be as high as 38 MP.

Other than that, Huawei will announce more products during the MWC 2019 like a new laptop or maybe a tablet?. It is also confirmed that the company will announce a 5G foldable phone, so Samsung will definitely face some competition.

LG at MWC 2019

LG has two flagships that we will see in 2019, the LG G8, and the LG V50 ThinQ. But whether we will see both flagships during MWC 2019, this still remains unknown.

LG has confirmed that they will be announcing a new 5G phone during MWC this year. This phone would have a 4,000mAh battery, a vapor cooling chamber, and a Snapdragon 855 chipset. I expect this one to be the V50 ThinQ.

Other reports suggest that LG will release both phones during MWC 2019. About the LG G8, it is expected to have a 4k LCD display with an in screen earpiece which would be a big step allowing LG to have a bigger display.

Nokia at MWC 2019

At MWC 2018, Nokia launched a bunch of new handsets, including their high end Nokia 8 Sirocco, so most probably we will see Nokia’s new flagship the Nokia 9 at MWC 2019.

Nokia launched a lot of other phones last year like the Nokia 7 Plus, and Nokia 1. So it won’t be a surprise if we see a whole new range of Nokia smartphones at the show this year.

The old company also re-launched a new version of some old Nokia phones like the 3310, and 8110, so we might see something similar this year as well.

Other Companies at MWC 2019

A lot of other companies and brands will make an appearance at MWC 2019. As we mentioned before, the mobile show this year will mark the first 5G phones. Huawei and LG are coming with their 5G phones. But other brands might launch 5G phones as well. OnePlus is working on a new 5G handset which will be different than their annual flagship, so we might see that during the show. Oppo is working on its own 5G phone as well.

Other than that, phone brands like Motorola, Xiaomi, Vivo, and ZTE will all be present in Barcelona announcing their new handsets and gadgets.
