Netflix offers you the chance to watch your favorite shows and make money at the same time

Ever wanted to watch your favorite shows through Netflix but couldn’t for some reason? This might be your chance to do so -and get paid in the process as well, provided that you’re good at translating.

The new Hermes program launched by the company seeks out translators from all around the world to help getting streams subtitles in local languages. The motive behind this move was because of how hard it is to find professional translations for many languages around the world. An example to that would be Dutch professional translators, where there’s only 100-150 of them on the entire planet.

To qualify and become a part of the Hermes program you have to undertake a 90 minutes test that evaluates your knowledge of the English language, as well as your ability to translate and to discover your technical mistakes. If you become qualified you’ll join a team of translators from around the globe to deliver Netflix shows to more than 20 spoken languages, even those where the service didn’t reach their respective countries yet.

What you’re asking about now is probably “Well, how much will i make?”. In fact, this depends on the difficulty of the language as well as the amount of work required and what sort of phrases you translated. In a list that was released December 2016, one minute of translating spoken Latin Spanish into Latin Spanish text was valued at $6, whereas a minute from Japanese to Icelandic text reached $27.50.

So how do you get started? You can take on the Hermes test right away and head over here for more info. Good luck!
