The new Jaybird Tarah: entry level wireless sports headphones

In today’s world Jaybird has become a standard for solid wireless earbuds, and just this week the company released its latest model of workout earbuds, the Tarah Wireless Sports Headphones. Shortly after the introduction of the newest model in the X-series, the X4 in August, the new Tarah headphones come $30 cheaper at $100, which is also $50 cheaper than Apple’s Beats X.

The earbuds are built to endure, with IPX7 waterproof rating to avoid any problems in case things get sweaty at the gym. They offer six hours of battery life, two hours less than the X4. But even if your earbuds are out of charge, a 10-minute charge will give you an hour of use. The quick charge feature is not new to Jaybird as they have included it in their more premium models, but it’s nice that they didn’t leave it out of the more affordable models.

In terms of design the Tarahs are very reminiscent of the X4s. The Tarahs include Jaybird’s “Speech Cinch” cord management system that lets you put the wire under- or -over-ear depending on your preference. While they also include interchangeable tips, the tips do are ultra-soft silicone instead of foam in the X4. The Jaybird app is also compatible with the new Tarah, allowing users to customize EQ levels. Additionally, there is easy access to Siri or Google Assistant. Unfortunately the new Tarahs do not come with a carrying pouch.

The Jaybird Tarah is now available for pre-order at Jaybird’s website, and shipping to the US and Canada starts next month when it will also be available in stores. They come in three colours: Black/Flash, Nimbus Gray/Jade and Solstice Blue/Glacier.
