New LG soundbars will feature Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support

With CES 2019 coming up very soon, companies have already started announcing products that will be showcased at the Conference in Las Vegas, US next year. Among them is LG, one of the best soundbar makers in the market, revealing that it is bringing not one, but three new LG soundbar models to its users in January with significant upgrades in mind.

First major update to the new LG soundbars is the Google Assistant integration. Even though it does seem fairly simple and not that significant, this upgrade will make it much easier to control the volume and song playback, but it will also serve as a smart home hub, offering other voice assistant abilities and control of Wi-Fi connected devices including speakers, light bulbs and other smart home devices.

Following is the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound support coming from the Meridian Audio partnership allowing the soundboards to transform the stereo audio to surround sound using Meridian’s “Upmix” technology. Thanks to this, these LG soundbars will be able to provide immersive 3D sound when combined with LG speaker set. As the whole system is modular, it can be combined and modified for individual living room space.

The design of the three soundbars is very sleek and simple, intended to blend into the background under the TV. One of the models, SL9YG will also have a gyroscope built in meaning that no matter if it is mounted on the wall or placed on a flat surface, it will automatically determine what is the best sound output based on its position.

As they will be first showcased at CES, LG soundbars SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG still do not have official pricing or official release date but are expected to be released in the near future.
