The New Tesla Roadster Is Cool – Seriously Cool

Tesla has been around for some time now, and have managed to create quite a bit of fuss. Their electric vehicles are the kind that the world has not seen before. They’re leading the way, letting the torch burn bright….an all-electric torch, of course.
The P100D is all over YouTube, whipping the hell out of some of the most ferocious super cars. The P100D alone is enough to make even the most die-hard of petrol-heads say “I want one”.
Now, Tesla has come out, all guns blazing, with the new Tesla Roadster. An utterly gorgeous and equally mental all-electric super car. It’s touted to be the fastest production car ever made, and there simply is no way to argue with that.

The Tesla Roadster Is Fast, Seriously Fast

Official figures claim that the base model Tesla Roadster will reach a top speed of 250mph (402km/h). Whilst impressive, the Koenigsegg Agera RS is capable of reaching 277.9mph (447km/h). No, what is totally mind boggling are the torque and 0-60mph figures.
Keep in mind that the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse boasts a torque figure of 1500Nm. The Tesla Roadster? 10,000Nm!
This apparently allows the Tesla Roadster to obtain a 0-60mph time of 1.9 seconds, along with a 1/4-mile time of 8.9 seconds. That’s enough to make Vin Diesel’s head explode!

If that 0-60 time is true, that would make the Tesla Roadster the first production vehicle to ever break into sub-2-second 0-60 club. Now THAT’S too damn cool.

Production

Tesla will reportedly begin production of the new Roadster in 2020, and you can get in on the waiting list so long, which will require an upfront deposit of $50,000 for the base model and a total cost of around $200,000 for the final product. However, the first 1,000 models will be sold as “Founder’s Series models”, and will be sold for $250,000 each.
