Notebook Odyssey: Samsung’s way into the PC gaming market

While Samsung is a leading company in many fields, from smartphones to displays, it’s not the first name that pops in your mind when you think of PC gaming. However, the company is looking to change that with its new Notebook Odyssey, the company’s most powerful gaming laptop so far.

Although the Odyssey line has been around for a while, the Notebook Odyssey takes it to another level. It is clear that Samsung hopes to compete with the likes of Dell, Asus and even Razer with this new laptop. With the newly announced Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU and an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, supported by 16GB of RAM, the Notebook Odyssey has great promise to deliver on every demanding game you throw at it. The 15.6-inch display has a resolution of 1080p with a 144Hz refresh rate. The Notebook Odyssey also has a 256GB NVMe SSD along with a 1TB HDD, which will be replaceable should the user need more space. The laptop will have a USB-C port as well as three USB-A ports and an HDMI port.

In terms of design, the Notebook Odyssey has a weirdly centered hinge that will definitely dissuade non-gamers from the device. Aside from that, the design is familiar to the Odyssey line of gaming laptops we’re used to from Samsung.

There are no pricing or release date details for the Notebook Odyssey, but the laptop will be available sometime in early 2019.
