OnePlus 6 and Bullets Wireless Revealed

The hour has finally arrived and co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei, took to the stage to unveil not just the OnePlus 6, but also an updated version of their Bullets earbuds, now called Bullets Wireless.

Bullets Wireless

Things kicked off with the introduction of OnePlus’s new wireless earbuds. The Bullets Wireless feature an all-aluminium housing and a driver that measures 9.2mm. It sports sweat resistance as well as compatibility with Google assistant.
The Bullets Wireless also offer a significant step forward in terms of the limitations of wireless earbuds with regard to power. OnePlus has included a fast charging feature through the USB-C port, which allows users to obtain up to 5 hours of extra battery-life after a mere 10-minutes of charging.
However, perhaps the most stand-out feature of the Bullets Wireless is how they’ve incorporated magnets into not just the design, but also the feature set.
Not only do the magnets help to keep the Bullets Wireless neat and tidy, but they’re also used as a switch in numerous ways. When each earpiece is placed together, this acts as a power switch which then powers them off. Separating them again will power the earbuds back on. This act of separating the earpieces can also be used to answer incoming calls.
In terms of music playback, here OnePlus have again been rather clever. When separating the earpieces they will also continue to play the same music that they were playing before being switched off. Neat!

OnePlus 6

Of course, the star attraction of the show is the new OnePlus 6. OnePlus really did stuff a fantastic list of specs and features into the device.Starting off with the design, the device’s dimensions actually remains largely unchanged from previous models, despite getting a jump in display size. The 6.28″ AMOLED panel is the largest they’ve ever fitted to any of their devices, and it also sports a nice resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 402PPI. One of the main design-elements here is the improved screen-to-body ratio of 83.8%. This is why the device’s dimensions remain pretty much the same to previous models whilst offer a larger actual display panel. The front panel also has the same “notch” that we’ve seen on the iPhone X.The front, as well as the rear of the device, is also covered in Gorilla Glass 5. The rear too was actually a key talking-point for the presentation as it’s a major design element for OnePlus.
For the new device the company now has 3 different colour/finishes available. The first is called Mirror Black, which is a shiny black variant. OnePlus specifically went into detail how the glass used on the rear and a very thin layer underneath the glass was specifically developed and chosen to give the rear of the device a ceramic feeling.
Then there’s also a Midnight Black version which sees the rear glass panel being perforated by countless tiny holes. These holes are way too small to see with the naked eye but this approach was specifically chosen for the unique matte texture that OnePlus wanted. It apparently makes the rear panel look and feel like metal rather than glass.
The last variant is a limited edition called Silk White. For this variant OnePlus incorporated crushed pearl to give the colour a mesmerizing texture and colour, and there are also a couple of rose gold-plated accents. Under the hood the OnePlus 6 has got a Snapdragon 845 processor which is comprised of 8 Kryo 385 cores and which is also capable of ticking along at up to 2.8GHz. With this new processor comes the Adreno 630 GPU.
For memory bandwidth the OnePlus 6 is fitted with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X memory depending on the specific variant. For internal memory you could opt for a model that’s fitted with up to 256Gb of UFS2.1 storage. For battery capacity the OnePlus 6 is fitted with a 3300mAh battery.

The camera is also another key selling-point as OnePlus was sure to tell us just how great it is. The 16MP camera offers both optical and electronic image stabilization and is capable of recording up to 60 fps at 4K resolution.

The OnePlus 6 will also be among the first devices to gain access to the Android P preview which can be downloaded form the OnePlus website.

Honestly, OnePlus really went all out here…well, almost. Oddly enough, despite all the talks about the glass back, the OnePlus 6 does not offer wireless charging.

Availability

The Bullets wireless will be available form June 5 at a surprisingly low price of $69.
Pricing for the OnePlus 6 starts off at $529 if equipped with 64GB of internal storage and only 6GB of RAM, whereas the version stuffed with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM will set you back $629.
