All you need to know about the new powerful Sonica DAC from Oppo

Day after day, DACs become more and more important as most of the audio sources we have today are digital, while most audio output devices still analog. With this new DAC from Oppo, you’ll definitely get a great audio experience.

Oppo used the name Sonica DAC referring to it’s formerly released wireless Multiroom Sonica Speakers, which works perfectly with the DAC whether connecting them via AUX cable or Wi-Fi.

Sonica DAC packs one of the best DAC chipsets available, the ESS ES9038PRO Sabre DAC, this chipset delivers up to 768 kHz 32-bit for PCM and 25 MHz for DSD signals.

If connected wirelessly, the DAC can decode WAV, FLAC, and Apple Lossless formats on 24-bit / 192 kHz, and DSD on a 64x sample rate. You can stream files to the DAC using your computer or the Sonica mobile application.

These numbers won’t add much to your experience if all you listen to is old sound files and recordings, but if you’re dealing with high-quality sound files you’ll definitely feel the difference.

This DAC focuses mainly on connectivity; you can connect it to low-end AMPs using the RCA port in the front, while other high-end AMPs can be connected through the two XLR ports in the back for better quality. you can use Coaxial and optical digital inputs to connect to wired audio sources, and the built-in Wi-Fi supports both 802.11 a/b/g/n and AC standards.

Oppo’s Sonica DAC is available for order from the official web page here for about 800$.
