Samsung QLED TV lights up in CES 2017

2016 was not one of Samsung best year with the bad publicity hitting the company after the Galaxy Note 7 withdrawal . So the company decided to hit hard and ended the year by the huge purchase of Harmon, and start the year In CES 2017 event  by introdcing new QLED TVs Series that include the Q7, Q8 and Q9 series. Pricing, availability and sizes were not confirmed.

The three Samsung flagship QLED TV ranges sit at the heart of the brand’s CES 2017 AV campaign. Claiming to be a more advanced version of the quantum dot technology used in Samsung’s SUHD models, QLED promises to deliver better colours, higher contrast and improved viewing angles.

Samsung’s best line of TV, the Q9, has a flat instead of a curved screen. The Q8 series is curved, while the Q7 offers both flat and curved models. Samsung didn’t elaborate on image quality differences between the three.

One important note: This QLED is basically an enhancement of standard transmissive LCD technology, not a new emissive quantum dot technology that really could challenge OLED. That emissive quantum dot “QLED” is still a few years off.
