Shanling Releases Updates for M1, M2s, M3s

Whilst the M0 might be Shanling’s latest little darling DAP, that doesn’t mean that they’ve forgotten about their previous M1 and M2s devices, and certainly not about their flagship M3s. Improvements in the software is always welcomed by users and these latest updates not only address a specific Bluetooth issue, but also add a new function to the operating system.

What Are The Updates All About?

According to Shanling, these newly issued updates intend to do the following:

New functions:
1. Added setting of wheel sensitivity (4 most sensitive, 1 least sensitive)

Changes and fixes:
1. Fixed problem of Bluetooth pairing with Sennheiser wireless headphones

The addition of a user-selectable sensitivity setting for for the navigation wheels is in particular a fantastic new feature. The scroll-wheels can be a little iffy on some devices, so being able to change that sensitivity makes for a much better user experience in terms of navigation.
Unfortunately these latest updates still do not address the digital volume issue that was introduced by one of the more recent updates. The problem there being that, when the device is connected to an external DAC (such as a Chord Mojo, Fiio Q5, or iFi Micro iDSD Black Label), the volume of the digital signal can still be controlled on the Shanling device. This is totally undesirable as a change in volume in the digital domain means that the actual data bits are being changed, which negates the use of an external DAC device.
