Sonos One Gen 2 speaker brings a few new internal updates

Sonos has been working hard on its latest hardware, with the latest move being a new version of its popular Sonos One speaker. The Sonos One Gen 2 is going to have several internal updates while keeping the original looks of its predecessor.

The internal updates of Sonos One Gen 2 speaker include a Bluetooth Low Energy, faster processor, and improved memory, making it more powerful than the first generation. The sound performance is expected to stay the same, as well as the functionality. Moreover, both generation speaker will stay compatible amongst each other for a stereo sound or as a part of a home theatre setup.

The faster chipset and larger memory are there with a reason but the company still did not reveal its plans on how it will put them to use. This means that there is a high chance of future updates and newly added features that weren’t present in the original Gen 1 speaker. On the other hand, Bluetooth Low Energy update was added for a simpler and quicker communication between the Sonos One speaker and the connected device.

Sonos One Gen 2 is already available for sales and it will be sold for $199. The Gen 1 is going to be sold for a discount price of $179. Sonos has revealed that both generations of Sonos One speaker are going to get Google Assistant added but the official release date for the feature is still not available.
