Sony 4K TVs will be controllable with Google Assistant later this year

Nowdays, buying a new 4K TV become one of the most overwhelming things in our life, we have a lot of options that get you confused and don’t know what to settle on.

All manufacturers are Working hard to convince you that their TVs are better than the others, everyday there is a new option in a new TV from big manufacture trying to convince and pull you to their side and today is Sony’s Day!

Sony 4K TVs, which run Android TV, will be the first in the market to get the Google Assistant. A firmware update will add the intelligent voice assistant to Sony 4K TVs later this year.

With Google Assistant, You can ask your TV to play anything you from your favourite streaming service, you can even control your TV settings just with your voice.

However, there is a thing that I think will ruin this new function, which is the Google Assistant won’t always be listening and waiting for you to speak, meaning it’s not a hands-free voice control experience. Instead, you have to activate the Assistant by pressing a microphone button on the remote control.

How does this new feature will change the customers experience? Imagine that you want to change the channel, adjust the volume or even launch an app; you will have to grab the remote, press a button and then speak into it? That isn’t fast, is it?

Voice controls are pointless if they are not hands-free so you would use it whenever you want without needing to click a button or touch a screen. Amazon made This mistake before when it lunched Amazon Tap Bluetooth speaker without the hands-free option, so you had to click the microphone button to activate Alexa, it was such a huge mistake that Amazon patched it later.
