Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones Photos Leaked

The Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones are coming out sooner than expected. Leaked photos of the new noise-canceling headphones show that they will feature Bluetooth 5.0 as well as 40 hours of battery life. The photos were first leaked by the tech blogger Everton Favretto who shared them on Twitter last Thursday. However, the photos were posted by Anatel, the Brazilian equivalent of the Federal Communications Commission.

The Sony WH-1000XM4 look exactly the same as their predecessor the XM3. but the same design doesn’t mean the same specs. The XM4 will feature a few improvements.

The Anatel filing also included an incomplete user manual that can give us an idea about these new over-ear headphones from Sony. In addition to Bluetooth 5.0 which is upgraded from 4.2 in the XM3, The Sony WH-1000XM4 will have better battery life, lasting up to 40 hours if connected to the headphones cable provided with them, but this could mean that the battery life has also improved when on wireless mode.

The user manual also shows a new feature called “speak to chat” which might be an improvement to the way the headphones connect with Google Assistant, Siri, or Alexa. The XM3 requires users to press a button, perhaps this action won’t be necessary anymore.

The WH-1000XM4 will come as a strong competitor to Bose 700 noise-canceling headphones. But so far, they don’t seem to be offering a lot more than the Sony’s XM3 headphones.
