A New Block Feature Is Coming To Spotify

On its continuous quest to improve users’ experience, Spotify is testing a new Spotify block feature on its iOS app. Finally, you will be able to block artists on Spotify which means you need to skip their songs anymore.

Spotify is still testing the block feature on its iOS beta version of the app, but nowhere else. The block button was first spotted by Thurrott who provided screenshots that show the new feature. The Swedish streaming company decided not to introduce such feature back in 2017. But it looks like they have changed their mind on the matter.

Blocking an artist on Spotify will mean that you won’t be able to see the artist page on the app, won’t receive any ads or suggestions featuring this artist, and it will also block all music from that artist on your personal library, playlists, automatically generated playlists, charts, radios, and everything else. Users won’t be able to find the blocked artist even if they tried to. The feature will not block tracks that they are featured on.

Spotify block feature comes after a lot of pressure on Spotify, especially after the accusations against the singer R. Kelly which Spotify has removed his songs from all its curated playlists but its music was still available for streaming on the platform.

The new feature is still limited to a small group of users, but hopefully, it will available for everyone with the new update.
