Scan the code and share the song with Spotify Codes new feature
Spotify app for music streaming began to promote its newest feature called Spotify Codes, where a similar technology to QR codes is used with a different purpose of scanning and playing whatever song you choose to share.
Spotify’s new feature comes out of commitment of providing users with easier ways to discover and share new songs with their friends. When you want to share a song all you have to do now is press “…” button on context menu while playing it and then pressing “Share“. This will display a certain code that looks like an audio wave where your friend can scan with the camera in the Spotify app and start listening immediately to the song in question on his mobile.
The best use of the codes however will come in the form of promoting new songs by artists, releasing leaflets or posters that include these codes so anyone can scan and listen to the music right away. So don’t start wondering when everyone will be using it soon.
