Spotify Is Now Available In MENA Region, Invitations-Only

Spotify, the market leader of the music streaming services around the world is finally coming to the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. The streaming service is now available in many countries of the region but limited to invitations only.

There was a strong rumor in the beginning of this year that Spotify is planning to launch in the Middle East and North Africa by the end of 2018. A few positions were available on the company’s website in Dubai.

The Swedish streaming service will be available in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. Some countries are still out of the list including Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Mauritania.

Spotify will face strong competition in the MENA region. First, Anghami, a regional music streaming service based in Beirut will be a strong competitor with more than 55 million users already.

Second, we have Deezer, the French streaming service that has received a huge investment from Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal the owner of the Rotana Group. Deezer has launched in the MENA region only two weeks ago, that means it’s almost a fair competition between the two streaming services.

Signing up to Spotify is still limited to invitations only. But it seems that Spotify is still preparing for the official launch.
