Job listing hints at Spotify hardware that may be in production

A job listing that was spotted on the streaming service official website may mean we’re about to see some Spotify hardware, making the jump from software division. The devices are said to rival the “Amazon Echo, Pebble Watch, and Snap Spectacles”.

The listing says that the company is looking into making “a category defining product akin to Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo, and Snap Spectacles” that will “affect the way the world experiences music and talk content.” There aren’t much details aside from the ambition of the company, but it appears that the devices will come connected to the internet and are “directly from Spotify”.

A separate job description shows that Spotify is interested in voice control concept, which may come later on to its apps and perhaps the new hardware. It seems safe to assume that Spotify is really interested in making an innovative music player. Maybe somethling like the “Mighty”, which is an iPod shuffle-like media player that streams from Spotify.

Whatever the devices really are, the headroom for what can be done with music streaming products is still high up and we expect to see some interesting ideas.
