Spotify Joins the voice assistants trend with “Spotify Voice Assistant”
After the entrance of a lot of big companies in the market of manufacturing and developing personal assistants with amazing abilities using AI (Artificial intelligence), like Google Assistant by Google, Amazon Alexa by Amazon, and even Microsoft and its assistant Cortana. It looks like we are going to see the most famous streaming service “Spotify”, launching its own personal assistant, which will be named Spotify Voice Assistant.

There were some rumors about Spotify launching its own music device, and that was because of hardware job opportunities on Spotify website. But the company surprised us with the opposite by launching its own new personal assistant for some users all around the world. Some users noticed this hidden feature behind the search bar in the iOS version of the Spotify app, once you press on it, a microphone would show up, and you can order the app what to do.
Spotify added a lot of features to its personal assistant, like skipping music parts, replay, pause, and many other features that we still don’t know if it will contain all the features that are already in other personal assistants or it will be only for the music streaming app.
After the rumors that it’s preparing to produce its own smart speaker, it seems that Spotify is trying to compete with other smart speakers like Amazon Echo which is supported by Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home Pod which they are supported by Google Assistant and Siri.
By this big step, Spotify is trying to make more profit, in order to recover from its 400 million US dollars’ losses last year, with 4 billion in profit. The company started already by deleting some accounts that are using fake apps. Another goal for Spotify is to increase the gap between its first competitor in the world Apple Music which has 38 million users while Spotify is dominating the market with 71 million users.
