A-T Showcases New Solid Bass Headphones
Audio-Technica‘s line of Solid Bass headphones are intended to appeal more to those users who crave deep and powerful (yet not sloppy) bass response. Along with the other products they they introduces at CES 2018, Audio-Technica also showcased 2 new wireless headphones that join the Solid Bass lineup.
The ATH-WS660BT
The ATH-WS660BT features 53mm drivers (with Deep Motion technology) and dual layer memory-foam earpads to ensure comfort and enhanced isolation.
The ATH-WS660BT also features a wide frequency response range of 8-29kHz when used with the included detachable cable. Impedance figures sit at 38-ohm whilst the sensitivity figure is rated at 100dB/mW. This means that the ATH-WS660BT should be relatively easy to drive even with portable devices.
Audio-Technica states that the ATH-WS660BT should achieve a maximum battery life of around 40 hours with continuous music playback, and up to 1000 hours on standby.
Essentially, the ATH-WS990BT offers the same features and functionality of the ATH-WS660BT, but this time ’round Audio Technica has thrown in noise-cancellation and a few more audio-related tweaks as well. The 53mm drivers are able to reproduce frequencies within the 5-40kHz range, along with sensitivity figures of 107dB/mW when using noise-cancellation and 101dB/mW without noise-cancellation. Additionally, the ATH-WS990BT’s impedance sits at 30-ohms when not using noise-cancellation, and 150-ohms with noise-cancellation active.
Standby battery-life is also the same as that of the ATH-WS660BT, but drops to 35 hours when using noise-cancellation in wired-mode. When using both Bluetooth and noise-cancellation, the battery-life will be limited to around 25 hours of continuous playback.
Pricing
Nothing concrete seems to have been said with regards to when these new Solid Bass headphones will hit the market, but pricing has already been published on Audio-Technica’s website. The ATH-WS660BT has an MSRP of $149, whilst that of the ATH-WS990BT is $249.
