JBL is an American audio-equipment manufacturer founded in 1946 that offers some of the most popular loudspeakers and headphones in the market. The company is owned by Harman, Samsung’s subsidiary, and is divided into JBL Consumer and JBL Professional, first being in charge of the consumer market while the latter offers more professional equipment for studios and cinemas.  If you are looking out for a portable speaker by JBL, be sure to check out the latest models of Xtreme, GO and Clip. Back in the spring of 2018 during the Google’s I/O conference, JBL announced it will be releasing a new soundbar and it is finally out. JBL Link Bar brings its users two very straight-forward features, Android TV and Google Assistant, as it has a built-in Chromecast. This means that you will be able to stream anything you want to the TV, including music, podcasts, radio or videos. It can be connected to your devices using WiFi, Bluetooth, and even HDMI inputs, creating the best 4K entertainment hub out of your TV even if it is not originally a smart TV. Moreover, as it also features Google Assistant, you can ask from it to play you a specific song or a movie, tell you random facts, or control other smart home devices connected in the network. JBL Link Bar is available on the company’s website for $399.95.

JBL Live Headphones Range

During CES 2019, the company revealed a new range of headphones that include 5 different models you can choose from. Live headphones range includes Live 100, Live 200BT, Live 400BT, 500BT and 650BTNC. 

Live 100 are wired in-ear pair and are the most affordable of the five, with pair costing only $39.95. Following the model, Live 200BT are very similar but have a wireless neckband design instead of the classic wire, offering Bluetooth connectivity and around 10 hours of playback time. Going up in the line are the 400BT, the over-ear wireless headphones that feature JBL’s TalkThru technology that allows users to have conversations through headphones easier. They also feature Ambient Aware and support Alexa and Google Assistant. The battery life is around 24 hours, and a pair can be purchased for $99.95. Second to last are 500BT, over-ear wireless headphones with touch controls on the ear cups. They also support Alexa and Google Assistant and have TalkThru and Ambient Aware technology but are good for up to 30 hours of playback time and cost $149.95. Last is the 650BTNC, other over-the-ear headphones that have most of the same features as the previous pair but also have the active noise-canceling options and are made with an aluminum finish. Their price goes up to $199.95. 

Four New JBL Truly Wireless Headphones

Except for the new JBL Live range, during the CES 2019 conference in Las Vegas, the company announced four new pair of earbuds which are already available. These include JBL Tune120TWSs, Reflect Flow, Endurance Peaks and UA True Wireless Flashes.

Tune120TWSs are truly wireless earbuds that are compatible with both Google Assistant and Siri. They feature the company’s Pure Bass Sound technology and a charging case that will you provide you with an additional 12 hours of playback time to the standalone four hours they can last on a full charge. The headphones are available in white, black, blue, green, pink and yellow color options. 

JBL Reflect Flow are the second pair of truly wireless earbuds but, unlike the previous ones, are waterproof and have the TalkThru technology, as well as the Ambient Aware. The battery life is up to 10 hours, but with the charging case, you can get 20 hours more. The headphones are sold for $150 in four color options: black, blue, lime and teal.

The second to last pair are the JBL Endurance Peaks are going to be apart of the Endurance headphones range, being the first that is truly wireless. They feature the PowerHook, TwistLock and FlexSoft technologies that ensure they will stay in your ear even though the toughest exercises. They have touch controls and offer up to 28 hours of playback time from a single charge. Endurance Peaks are sold for $119.95 and come in black, blue and red color options. 

UA True Wireless Flashes are the result of the company’s partnership with the famous clothing company Under Armour. They feature 5.8mm dynamic drivers and deliver 5 hours of playback time with additional 20 hours from the charging case. They are waterproof and also feature TalkThru and AmbientAware technology. They are sold for $169.95 in the black colorway.

JBL Everest GA Wireless Headphones

During the IFA 2018 conference, JBL announced a new range of Everest GA wireless headphones which include a wireless over-the-ear pair 710GA, and in-ear pair 110GA. Both pairs have touch sensors on the earcup or the earbud which allows you to activate Google Assistant and use it to make calls, ask Google for information about your schedule, weather or any random information, as well as control the music playback. The 710GA have the ShareMe 2.0 feature that allows you to connect your headphones to other compatible headphones and share your music with your friends wirelessly.  Both headphones pairs offer 24 hours of playback. Everest 710GA and 110GA are sold for $300 and $120 respectively.

Right after Lenovo released its first smart display, JBL revealed that it is coming out with Link View, a smart display with JBL speaker that offers high-quality sound. It has an 8-inch touch-screen display with Google Assistant and it works on a similar principle as Google Home, but with the addition of a screen that makes some actions more simple and convenient. As it has an IPX4 rating, it is safe to keep even in the kitchen, and with the 5MP front camera, you can even make video calls. With the JBLspeaker, it provides you with rich stereo sound and deep bass and allows you to stream music from your laptop or smartphone through Bluetooth. Link View is currently available for on the company’s website for $249.95.

Three New JBL Portable Speakers

JBL is one of the most popular names when it comes to the market of portable speakers and it added three new ones to choose from: JBL GO 2, Clip 3 and Xtreme 2. 

The first of the three, GO 2, is the second generation of one of JBL’s most famous portable speakers. The new model kept the original rectangle shape but this time with curved edges, and it offers some of the most basic features you would need to play music on the go: Bluetooth connectivity, audio cable input, and noise-free speakerphone. An exciting feature that has been added is the IPX7 waterproof rating that allows you to take the speaker anywhere. It is offered for $39.95 and it comes in 12 colors, including a bit more unusual ones like Seafoam Mint and Pearl Champagne.

Following is the Clip 3, the third generation of the famous Clip speaker that is known for its clip that makes it convenient to attach to a backpack or any other bag and carry around. It kept the IPX7 waterproof rating but offers 10 hours of playback time, unlike 8 hours that was offered by the previous model. The design is very similar as well, but the clip is not built into the device. It can be purchased for $59.95 and comes in 10 unusual colors including Squad and Fiesta Red.

Last but not least is the Xtreme 2, a bit more serious speaker than the previous two. The new model got IPX7 waterproof rating, allowing you to take it basically anywhere with you, and it still provides you with 15 hours of playback time. It held onto the two hooks for the harness making it even easier to transport as the device is quite bulky, but in return, you get much better and louder audio. The price is $299.95 and there are two color options: Ocean Blue and Forest Green.

JBL Oculus Rift Compatible Headphones

Back in 2017, JBL made a step towards the world of virtual reality by revealing two pairs of headphones, the OR300 over-the-ear, and OR100 in-ear headphones, that are designed to work perfectly with the new Oculus Rift Headsets. Both pairs of headphones have the company’s Pure Bass Sound and noise-canceling technology that are pretty crucial for the best VR experience. Headphones can be connected using Rift’s proprietary headphone connector which provides you with a hassle-free pairing process.
