Ultimate ears UE ROLL 360 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Review

Wireless Bluetooth speakers are everywhere and at times it’s difficult to distinguish one from the other or something that stands out from the crowd. The UE Roll (UE stand for Ultimate Ears) belongs to that category – it’s a disc-shaped speaker that comes with funky colors that well, makes it stand out.

Design:

Also noting the UFO-like design, the UE Roll is also fully waterproof, and comes with a rating of IPX7, meaning that you can completely submerge the speakers in water for up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

The UE Roll includes a pull out integrated bungee cord where you can easily hang it anywhere – the makers even suggest that you can hang it on the shower head and use it while you’re inside the bathroom.

There are no playback buttons on the UE Roll, just huge volume controls represented by ‘+’ and ‘-‘ symbols at the front. The USB port is located at the back that is used for charging. These ports can be sealed off so you can use it safely use it in water.

Performance:

Setup is easy and I did not have any problems connecting the UE Roll to all my Bluetooth-enabled devices. I then used the speakers indoors in the shower and even outdoors on the pool.

The UE Roll managed to hold a decent volume inside and outside, with minimal distortion even when the volume is set to maximum. It somehow lacks some bass, but it does not really impact my overall listening experience. The only drawback is that the UE Roll cannot be used as a speakerphone.

The UE Roll can also be configured using an app available for iOS and Android that lets you configure the speaker in stereo mode, but you need another speaker to make it work independently as separate channels or simply use both for a louder and fuller sound.

The battery on the UE Roll gave at least 9 hours of playback, which is perfect for outdoor picnics and other activities.
