NuForce launches fully wireless ‘BE Free8’ IEMs

NuForce isn’t exactly a new kid on the block, and their latest product certainly shows that. They’ve had numerous successful wired IEMs, so their fully wireless BE Free8 sure seems interesting.

The Specs

Frequency response: 20 – 20,000Hz
Sensitivity: 92db +/-3db
Driver: 6mm dynamic
Battery-life: Up to 16 hours (with use of charging case)
Connectivity: Bluetooth, APTX

Improved connectivity

NuForce claims that the BE Free8 features NFMI (Near-Field Magnetic Induction) technology on each earpiece, which results in a “reliable connection between the 2 earpieces”.
Connectivity issues have always been a sticking point for fully wireless IEMs, so it would be great to see how the BE Free8 stacks up against similar products that have come before it (such as the Samsung Gear IconX and Sony WF-1000X, for example).

Battery Life

Ok, so NuForce says that the BE Free8 has a total battery-life of 16 hours. This, however, is a little misleading. Technically, it can operate for a maximum of 4 hours on a single charge. How they got to this “16 hours” figure, is by including the number of times that the portable charging station can charge the earpieces too. So, 4 hours on a charge, then the BE Free8 can be charged (apparently) another 3 times via the charging station, which results in a total of 16 hours.

Sweat Friendly

Don’t worry about using the BE Free8 for sport activities – THEY’RE MADE FOR IT!

They also sport an IPX5 rating, making them water and weather resistant, which means that they should be safe from the effects of rain and sweat.

TIP: An IPX5 rating means “water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.”

Pricing

According to the interwebs, pricing for the BE Free8 seems to be set at $149 (unconfirmed).
